Each piece is individually hand thrown by Amy with loving care in her Pawling studio finished using unique glaze combinations. Amy honors the philosophy and aesthetic style of Wabi-Sabi. This philosophy and method is centered upon the acceptance of transience and imperfection. Beauty in this style is “imperfect, impermanent and incomplete”. Each piece of pottery by Amy is like no other, unique in inception and design.
The Kelly Shea Mug is inspired by its namesake, my first friend that I met at the University of Colorado on the lawn of Sewall Hall as I awkwardly tried to fit in by being a super nerd. She has been working off the books as my therapist for nearing a quarter of a century now.
